I guess it is possible to eat a little cheaper than it cost us. But it certainly wasn't the one $ place we expected. The food was good. It would be nice to see some good options for kids -- priced like it's for kids. We felt a little shell-shocked by the bill.

Best kept secret in town. Really, they deserve a 4.5 if it were possible. So fresh.So authentically flavored and no corners cut.they delivered way more than a 3.5 rating. The tongue tacos were the best I've had since San Felipe,12 years ago. Great tortilla chips and we'll balanced moderate spiced salsa finishing each bite craving it enough to drink it. Also, the guacamole was done to perfection with no overriding flavors. The Cadillac and blue margaritas we had were excellent. No corners cut on cheap tequila. After dinner,I feel excellent. No stuffed feeling, lots of energy. Would return here repeatedly if I lived in town.

My wife and I are regulars at the Taqueria.. Love it. Regular lunch breaks together for Tacos al pastor with a house pepper and fried onions.. Always perfect and always a pleasure. Tacos Al Carbon are amazing when your craving some salt and on a sunny day under the trellis their Ceviche tostada covered in ripe avocado is a refreshing summer treat.. My wife says they need to bring back the bean dip but that is certainly no complaint, just a request!

A very tasty mexican food restaurant find in the Columbia Gorge. I ordered the spicy Torta Cubano, essentially a pulled pork sandwich with jalapenos and bacon. It was a little messy to eat, but very delicious. I also tried a bunch of their tacos: adobada, al pastor, pollo, and a version with pineapples. I also wanted to try the birras, but they were out. Who knew goat was so popular in Hood River. The prices are very reasonable and the portions pretty decent. I was full after just the tacos. Service was just average however and they charge for refills of ice tea! But if you can look beyond that, this little restaurant is definitely worth a try!

Go here expecting delicious and cheap tacos and burritos. Pass on the more expensive Americanized options. Food: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Setting: 4 stars Price: 5 stars This place does a good job with the basics. Go here if you're looking for authentic tacos. I didn't have any of the Americanized Mexican food, but from reading other peoples reviews, this isn't their specialty. The chicken tacos were cheap and very tasty. Tortillas tasted fresh and were doubled up. Chicken had good flavor and wasn't overcooked. The sauces had nice spice and flavor. The burrito was huge and delicious. Service was as expected. Tentative but not over-talkative. Looks like they've got some excellent outdoor seating for good weather days.

Eh. Food was fine. Chips were meh. Salsa wasn't the best around. Good outdoor seating. The biggest problem was the lack of service. Attitude everywhere and getting a simple refill of water seemed like a huge inconvenience to our multiple servers. I'm sorry if you're having a bad day or you hate your life, but damn girl, don't take it out on me. I just want a water refill! The food wasn't good enough to outweigh the crap service....unfortunately. So that leaves me with no reason to go back.

I ordered 3 tacos; all 3 were dry. (Pastor, carnitas, grilled fish.) The tortillas were rubbery. I was disappointed. My friend ordered a combination plate because he was craving rice & beans. Those two items were good, as was his chicken enchilada. The chile relleno on his plate was really eggy and the sauce, though flavorful, was really watery. I don't think I'll come back.

Tacos, tacos...tacos All i good, especially the tacos. there are some other great meals prepared as well, like the tortas. I been there several times and have had almost all in the menu, its the fresh ingredients they use. with the outdoor sitting in the summer is good.

Do you like good food? Do you like good people? Do you like great food prepared for you by great people? Then this is the spot for you. The Carnitas was amazing. The Margarita? Giant and delicious. Pork Tamale? Probably the best I have ever had. And for sure the best Guacamole I have EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. You need to have an event catered? They do that too and at a very fair price, not to mention they don't try to take advantage of you. My wife and I had the Hood River Taqueria cater our wedding. Our guests could not stop raving about the food and let me tell you, I had some left over Tamales and those bad boys are in my freezer RIGHT NOW waiting to be devoured. If you are looking for great service, amazing food, and the best Guac ever, this is the spot. If you hate yourself and desire to be unhappy forever, don't come, because you will leave happy. No matter what.

Idk if we came on a bad day, but, the burritos we ordered we terrible..... Literally made all the of us sick after eating here. The ingredients we all either canned, or left under a heat lamp all day. I didn't know Mexican could go so wrong. Even taco bell is a leg up on those burritos..... Can't speak for tacos here. Just Okay. Chips had no salt, salsa tasted like pizza sauce with cilantro added. Carnitas tacos had good flavor but other choices were mediocre. The horchata had hint of good flavor but seemed watered down.

Speaking from a personal Hispanic heritage standpoint, the foods authenticity is lacking. Prices could be better. However, this seems to be a popular spot in the summer because of their outdoor seating. My reccomendation, grab a drink enjoy the outdoor seating and find another place in the area to have your meal. There are other good spots for Mexican food such as in Odell or heading south on the heights.

The taco's are delicious. If you've ever wanted to try tongue, theirs is phenomenal tender and melt in your mouth. They even did their tacos without cilantro for me, since I'm one of those unlucky people that taste cilantro as soap. I'd skip their americanized mexican food and go straight for the tacos.

Hey, it's not Tucson. But for Hood River it's better then what's here. Nice patio setting. Decent menu with typical Mexican fare. No mole or speciality meats. Chips are blah, salsa is weak. Again locals and tourists prolly never had good mex food. Beans lack flavor, might as well be eating poi. Rosarita from the can would be better. Food served the purpose. Service okay. Typical bottle mex beer, but with local Full Sail Amber on tap. It's not ghetto but it's not a WOW either!

I ate here the other day. The service and staff are great but the owner needs to learn some professionalism. I wrote a paper check, put it in the ticket and he and three staff came down the street claiming I was a walk off. I don't walk off after you feed me by passing a bad check in a small Oregon town. You treat your customers with respect or they won't come back, I sure won't, passively accusing me of theft...;(

Sub-par taqueria with overpriced food. The horchata is too sweet and the rice is too dry. The servers and owners are nice and earn their tips. Seems like they base their business on quantity over quality. The salsa is watered down and lacks in flavor. The tongue tacos are OK.

Meh. Great front porch, where everyone goes when the weather is nice. It's just not the best mexican food in town (or outside of town.) It's kinda "meh." Smaller portions, too. My camerones a la diabla tasted like it was out of a can (I wasn't in the kitchen- so I don't know this for sure.) It just didn't have that flavor/spice authenticity that other mexican places have. I've given it a couple tries (it's hard to say no to that sunny yard) and each time I've left a little bummed....like I almost had a great meal...but instead had one that was just "meh." Oh- and the salsa is just OK. And comes in ridiculously small cups. There's a better Mexican place just right across the road on the other one way street going the other way. (You'll see it.) There's also a kick arse huge Mexican grocery down the road across from Rosauers. There's other options all around. I wish this place would kick it up a notch- it wouldn't have to do much to really turn it around and make it a great place. You can't beat that location. It brings in people. Now you've just got to make the food a bit better.

Either I never get authentic Mexican food or this place in the BOMB. Oh My Goodness. I knew it was going to be good when I couldn't read the menu ;) It was all in Spanish and my Spanish is limited to "Taco" and "Burrito". Oh, and I know "Tamale." The salsa was just spicy enough and the chips fresh and crunchy. The service was quick, the portions perfect size (not too big not small) and the staff was helpful and friendly. I like my Mexican food flavorful and a little on the hot side but I don't want to be blowing my nose constantly. The heat and spice in the dishes was absolutely perfect. This is a place I will be coming to again next time I'm in the Hood River area.

We come here a lot in the summer, the outdoor seating is the best in Hood River (if you don't need a view). The service is usually very friendly and speedy and the food is pretty good (although Puerto Angeles across the road is better). But boy did we run into a bad experience for lunch today. First, we appreciate that Spring in the Gorge is the time for training new help, so we expect that -- and we were not in a hurry. Our first waitress did not seem to understand we wanted to share nachos and that we'd order an entree shortly. That solved, another -- clearly new -- waitress came up to take our order. several minutes later, still a third waitress (trailed by the second waitress) asked to take our order. We told her we had just placed our order with the waitress standing right next to her. She thanked us and disappeared only to return 10 minutes later to tell us there was no order placed. But, but, SHE took our order!! Waitress 2 stood in stony silence. So, waitress 3 took our order. And here's where it got weird. Several minutes later our chimichanga arrived. My wife and I shared it and immediately we both knew something was wrong. Now, we've eaten here a ton of times and have had great chimichangas before (although our son-in-law did have one several months back just like we just got). What we got was dry, shredded chicken with no seasoning stuffed into a fried shell. We called the waitress over and she told us (having worked there 7 years) that this was how they made chimichangas -- dry, shredded, unseasoned chicken). I told her that I had ordered them before and this was not it. She assured me that I had not, indeed, ordered them before, that I must have ordered something else. Clearly she was not interested in hearing that the chef was perhaps having an off day. So, we finished what we could and left. We'll be back to enjoy the outdoors and just hope the chef got a better night's sleep and that the waitresses are better trained.

Once i Ordered a Chimmichonga and it was just chicken in a wrap, nothing else inside but bar that i have enjoyed every meal there immensely including asking for extra which they did.

This place is ok - pretty standard local taqueria fare. Great smells coming from the kitchen, but the food itself was average. We had potato enchiladas, and tacos de pollo and carne asada. My recommendation: try something more-adventurous on the menu. You'll have a better chance of walking away happy.

I checked yelp for help in finding a place for lunch here in Hood River. We were yearning for some good Mexican food and when I saw they had a patio, I called to see if my dog was welcome,as it as to warm to leave her in the car. They Said dogs were welcome on the patio so that decided it for us . The chips and salsa, and bean dip were very good. We had carnitas tacos and margaritas and everything was good good good. I would most certinally return to eat here.

The cabeza tacos are amazing! As well as the torta cubana! I believe my husband's words were, "this is life changing! I could eat this every day!" Margarita could have used some more tequila, but overall this place is very authentic and tasty!

I used to really like this place, not because it is the greatest, but overall you could have a decent meal, not only at great prices but with pretty good service. The last two times we have been there, they have messed up our twins order, twice. How hard is it to do a quesadilla with shredded white chicken, grilled a little longer. And I speak fluent Spanish, so I reiterate my order in both languages. The first time, we got just cheese on the quesadilla. You know what they did? They slapped it open and threw in some chicken. You couldn't pick it up without everything falling apart. I told them it should have been grilled a little longer and that they should have redone it. The owner came by and she was trying to justify by saying she cannot please everyone. I told her it was not a matter of pleasing, but just following direction. Ok, finally we got the quesadilla and the twins ate it all. Today we went there after spending time by the pool. As soon as we got there, I placed the order for the quesadilla with "white shredded chicken". I asked her if she wanted me to order in spanish because I noticed her puzzled face, I decided to go ahead and say it anyways in both languages. What did we get? Quesadilla with chicken fajita, including peppers and onions. WTH!!!I went to the owner and told her it was the same order as two days ago. She said, yes, tell the cook, ok,I did but I was concerned since the twins were hungry and filling on tortilla chips. Finally the quesadilla came and they ate it. I had my Crazy Burrito, it did have fajita chicken inside, I wonder if they had made too much of it for something and they were trying to put it in every meal.

Had a great lunch here on Monday Sept. 9th. Shredded beef enchilada, and a pork tamales, Val had a veggie burrito, huge servings. Service was ok but got our order mixed up, so took a little longer. What a beautiful day to eat outside. We will return, probably on another nice day.

I enjoyed this little place when I was here on one of my many trips aboy a year ago! Up this hill from the older downtown area of Hood River, this place had nice outdoor seating in the summer. I was going for a cheap meal. So I opted to pick out a few of the ala carte tacos. I picked the Al Pastor (beef, pork, crushed pineapple and guac), Adabada (spiced pork) and the Pollo (chicken). I enjoyed them all. And I couldn't beat the price walking out at around 5 dollars before tax. I will be back for tacos again on another visit. And hopefully in summer so I can enjoy the patio.

outdoor dining in the sun and authentic wonderful food. Can't recommend enough the breakfast (huevos rancheros) or my dinner favorites the house special carnitas tacos and the taco doblado plate. Two stops in the long weekend and both were much more than satisfying. Two people can eat very well for ~$18. Don't miss it.

Lunch today at the Hood River Taqueria. Given the other reviews, was a little disappointed. The chorizo was fairly bland (which I think chorizo should never be!), as was the al pastor burrito. Very good salsa, and terrific patio. Service was good.

It depends on what you order. Some dishes....I just don't understand ... Like why you wouldn't slice that chicken breast before you threw it in a burrito?? But other things.....like the tacos al pastor....are delicious and fresh and keep me coming back.

The fact that people think so highly of this restaurant makes we wonder if people in Hood River are clueless about Mexican food. To quote Gordon Ramsay, "This is a dog's dinner!" First off, the service was slow and unfriendly. Not a single smile formed on the server's face. I was nice- she was not. Second, the imported Mexican beers are way over priced. They should not cost the same as a high quality American craft beer when they are essentially colored water. Third- the food was atrocious. We got enchiladas that I am about 99% positive were frozen and then heated in a microwave. The tortilla was mushy and barely cooked. The filling was bland and the sauce was like no kind of enchilada sauce I have had. The beans looked and tasted like poop on a plate and the rice was undercooked. If you are looking for tasty, authentic Mexican food, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for fast, bland, filler food then this just might be the place for you.

Went for dinner on strength of reviews on Yelp. The food was plentiful and cheap and staff was nice (if slow) and we sat outside, also nice, which all goes to give the place more than one star. But far from delicious or authentic or tasty (as the reviews I read said). In fact the dishes we ordered were very bland. I've had better from off-the-shelf grocery store Mexican food. Virtually tasteless. Salsa tasted like tomato sauce out of the can. Pork and chicken tasted like they were cooked without any seasoning. Not the SLIGHTEST heat anywhere. Also the flautas one member of our party ordered came wrapped in something more closely resembling a pancake than a tortilla; doughy and tasteless. We would not go back.

This place gets the job done. It's always packed, especially when the weather is nice due to the abundance of outdoor seating that is available. Despite being crowded more often than not, the service is very attentive and quick. The food is very edible. I had the veggie fajitas and was a little surprised they didn't come out sizzling as fajitas normally do, but the flavor was pretty good. I don't eat cheese (tragic, I know) and forgot to mention this so my beans had cheese sprinkled over the top. Luckily my dinner date was able to take one for the team and scoop them up. All in all, a very easy eating experience. The price isn't painful and you defnitely get your money's worth in portions. It's worth checking out if you're craving some classic, no-surprises Mexican food. Sit outside if the weather allows.

The food here was delicious. The portions were generous and the prices great. We were very happy to find such a great mexican place and would recommend it to anyone. We sat on the patio which had a lot of seating. The service was very good and we will definitely go here again the next time we are in Hood River.

I was excited to try this restaurant after seeing such good reviews thinking it would be an off-the-beaten-track place in Hood River. It was good enough but I guess I maybe I shouldn't expect the best Mexican food from a place in Hood River. The casual, outdoor patio was nice especially on a night where the temperature was still at 90 at 7:00. I had a taco al pastor which was quite tasty and a shrimp quesadilla which was just ok. My husband had the chimichanga which he said was not that great. The margaritas were a little weak but the strawberry limonada was delicious. All in all, it was fine and cheap, but not a memorable experience.

This restaurant is located in a renovated home in the heights area of hood river. The staff were real friendly and more than happy to explain the different food choices. I chose to sit outside at one of the picnic type tables. The service was average (about a 20 minute wait for food). This place gets real busy at dinner time. I ordered a chicken burrito loco which came with sour cream and guacamole. I have to say it was one of the best authentic burritos i've had in this area even though it cost around $6.75. Some places around these parts like to stuff teir burritos with shredded cabbage, but not this place! I will return!

This is where we always stop on our way back to PDX after hiking the North or East side of Mt. Hood. We're tired, hungry and ready for a Negra Modelo, Chips/Salsa and then good hearty Mexican Fare!. I've never eaten inside, we always sit outside at the tables. Family run, highly recommended.

We love the taqueria...and love the prices... My husband and I always order the ala carte tacos: The El Pastor and the Carnitas tacos (with come with guacamole, onions and cilantro). We both order 2 each - are completely satisfied and only spend 6 bucks!! We occasionally order a side of beans for chip dipping...their refried beans are awesome! The salsa is amazing...and you can order different sizes to take home (highly recommended). Love the Taqueria!! Best in Hood River!

I had the loco burrito, it was good. Served with fresh guacamole that was really good. My date had beef fajitas (I tried both and preferred the burrito). Nice low-key place, fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, patio seating. We'll probably go back next time we go hiking near Hood River.

Having moved to Portland last fall, I have to say there are no places here that compare to HR Taqueria. Reasonably priced, consistent, authentic, rad servers and most importantly; family owned. My ultimate meal; Tres Tacos al Carbon and a Negro Modella.

The food is decent, but not the best Mexican food out there. Once I remember my mom telling me she ordered some tacos and found some type of insect in one of them, which made her never return there. Most of the times that I've ate the rice there it also tends to have a coarse feel to it making me think it's old.

These are definitely the best tacos to be had from a restaurant in the gorge. Come for the tacos, I generally ignore the rest of the menu. The al pastor are the best, although they were a tad heavy on the pineapple on this visit. They have a full liquor license and do cheap shots of patron! In the summer the patio is lovely. Go here.

If you know and love authentic Mexican food, forget it. The margaritas are huge and reasonably priced (although we didn't try them) but the food is bland and typically covered in gravy to satisfy middle-America's taste buds (and for some reason the Northwest's as well! I still can't figure this one out.) My tamale had obviously been sitting around all day. My husband pronounced the carnitas as fine, but nothing special. This place does have a lovely patio, but inside is small and has two TV's blaring. If you want a basic taco and nacho along with a margarita this place is fine, but don't expect authentic and tasty Mexican cuisine.

Summary: Decent inexpensive mexican food. I'd go there again. Location: Nothing fancy. Outdoor seating when the weather allows. Service: Fast and courteous. The food was served in a few minutes. As soon as you sit down they bring a bowl of corn chips, a bowl of bean dip and a bowl of salsa. The chips are standard corn chips, but the salsa is pretty good and the bean dip is a nice addition. Better yet, they are generous and will offer a refill. House Special Tacos - Al Pastor - Mixed beef, pork, crushed pineapple, guacamole, onions and cilantro: Overall a good soft taco. I liked everything except the taste of the mixed beef. I would try the carnitas or chorizo version the next time. Burrito with pork: A good value for the price, but nothing memorable. A good choice for children that aren't interested in spicy food or strong tastes. One burrito would be enough for two children. Next time I'll try the Burrito Loco.

I only gave this 4 stars ..because I was only able to eat here once while visiting a friend in Portland. Excellent Mexican food. Had the Al Pastor Tacos. Couldn't have been more surprised that some place in Oregon could crank out some good quality Mexican food. And the price was rizzzzzzight out of site. Like $1.75 per taco Ala carte. Amen brutha. Friendly service and a great outside eating area.

Great little authentic place. We sat on the front porch, which can accommodate 30 - 40. Nice environment, good service, great food. We had the chicken fajita burrito. Good change up from a normal chicken burrito. The fresh chips and salsa were very good as well.

Hood River Taqueria is a great value for lunch or dinner. The tacos are delicious and authentic. Their carne asada is really tasty and the carnitas aren't greasy! The service is fine, not great. This place is a really good take out option when their is no seating available or on your lunch break. Check it out you'll be hooked.

One of the best, authentic, mexican meals around. Outdoor seating in the summer is great (unless it is too windy), the tacos are a super deal, and the 'ritas come in fishbowls. Always friendly, always good. Cant beat it for lunch or dinner.
